Children need environments that are safe and support their wellbeing and this extends to digital spaces. However, children are currently subjected to pervasive data collection and profiling practices in digital environments, often without genuine consent or understanding.
South Australia needs effective, evidence-informed regulatory controls to address and reduce harms from alcohol. However, the laws that exist to keep people safe and protect them from harm have not kept pace with the way that alcoholic products are marketed, sold and delivered.

More than 1,000 people in Queensland die each year of alcohol-attributable disease and injury, and more than 30,000 Queensland hospitalisations are attributable to alcohol. Cancers were responsible for the largest proportion of alcohol-attributable deaths, and neuropsychiatric conditions accounted for largest proportion of all alcohol-attributable hospitalisations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recently sought feedback on the first draft of their WHO Action plan to reduce alcohol harm 2022-2030 to support the Global Strategy to Reduce the Harmful Use of Alcohol.
Loneliness and social isolation have been associated with an increased risk of such mental health problems as anxiety and depression, which often co-occur with AOD problems.
The ACT Government is the first Australian jurisdiction to commit to raising the Minimum Age of Criminal Responsibility (MACR)
