As a wine marketer for many years, Simon has seen firsthand the tactics alcohol companies use to sell their products. From linking alcohol to birthdays, sporting events and life milestones to selling it as an ‘essential’ part of spending time with loved ones.
When Simon began to consider alcohol’s role in his life, he took steps to cut it out for a few weeks, then months, at a time. He has lived free of alcohol for four years.
“I was sleeping much better, I was a lot calmer, I had a lot less anxiety, I felt better… all of these things stacked up and when I looked back on them I thought, there was one common factor in that – I’d cut alcohol out.”
After looking into how alcohol can affect health and wellbeing, Simon decided he didn’t want it in his life anymore.
Simon shares how we went from being an alcohol marketer to alcohol free.
