Alcohol affects our whole community through drink driving, street violence, injury, chronic disease, cancer and family violence. Although alcohol is a legal, regulated drug in Australia, it is responsible for almost 6,000 deaths and costs the community $36 billion every year, including in healthcare, public safety, policing, courts, child protection and workplace productivity.
FARE is the only independent organisation focussed exclusively on stopping alcohol harm in Australia. We believe that reducing alcohol harm is a public policy issue that should be independent of the alcohol industry and their commercial objectives.
We continue to work with communities, governments, health professionals, researchers and police across the country to take action that works to reduce the toll. Supporters like you are an integral part of our journey and our success, and with your help, we can do more to ensure a future free from alcohol harm.
