First Taste: How Indigenous Australians learnt about grog

Stereotyped ideas about the history of alcohol use and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can create fatalism, and these six resource books take a more positive approach to the past. They deal with different episodes in the history of alcohol in Australia: traditional drinks, early tastes, the Macassans, Aboriginal uses of bottles and glass, Bennelong and the British, and struggles over drinking rights.

These are resources designed for students, health workers, those working in alcohol and other drug issues – and for any person wanting to learn more about this history.
